Our mission is to cherish and spread the art of Lithuanian choir's music, to preserve the choral art traditions in Lithuania, to initiate the creation and performance of Lithuanian choir music, and to revive the masterpieces of the Choral Music Gold Foundation. To work purposefully in spreading Lithuanian and world choir art, presenting the most valuable works of the highest artistic level to the public.
The vision of the Choir "Polifonija" is to become a well-known music art collective in the world, capable of conveying creatively the values of music culture, presenting national and world choir art, collaborating with the most famous, renowned artists and young, talented performers.
1974
1979
The choir is named "Polifonija" and granted for the name of the Folk collective.
1986
"Polifonija" got the professional status and became a mixed Siauliai State Chamber choir of the Lithuanian State Philharmonic.
1998
"Polifonija" was separated from the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Siauliai division and became a separate concert organization.
2004
“Polifonija“ celebrated its 30th anniversary.
2006 – 2010
After leaving the team for his long-term leaders - Danute and Sigitas Vaičiulionis, Gediminas Ramanauskas become the director of the "Polifonija".
2011
Tomas Ambrozaitis become the director of the choir.
2015
Tomas Ambrozaitis became Choral Art Director and Chief Conductor.
Since 2015, Aurelija Čižauskaitė-Butkaliuk has been temporarily in the position of Choir Director.
2016
Egidijus Kaveckas was appointed as Artistic Director and Conductor. Nijolė Saimininkienė became Head of the Institution.
2017
Tomas Ambrozaitis took over the post of Artistic Director and Conductor
2018
Linas Balandis became the artistic director and chief conductor of the choir "Polifonija".
2019
"Polifonija" Choir celebrates the 45th anniversary of creative activity.
2020
Povilas Vanžodis became the conductor of the choir "Polifonija".
2021
The most recent recognition is the first place in the International Orthodox Sacred Music Competition „Hajnowka" in 2021, participating in the category of professional choirs.
2023
„Polifonija" competed in the „Golden Voices of Montserrat" choir competition in Spain.
In the category of professional choirs, the 1st place was awarded for the performance of academic music, and the Grand Prix for sacred music. Conductors Povilas Vanžodis and Linas Balandis.
2024
The most recent recognition is that at the International Orthodox Church Music Festival-Competition Hajnówka 2024, the choir "Polifonija" was declared the absolute best choir of the festival, which was awarded the new festival title "PRIMUS INTER PARES" (Latin for first among equals) and the prize of the Polish Minister of Culture.
2024
Officially became a member of TENSO - The European network for professional chamber choirs.
