Choir Polifonija will soon embark on a tour to Turkey
The Šiauliai State Chamber Choir Polifonija will soon embark on a tour to Turkey — an important presentation of Lithuanian choral music on the international stage. The tour is organized in cooperation with TENSO (the European Network for Professional Chamber Choirs), the Embassy of Lithuania in Turkey, and the State Choir of Turkey, with performances scheduled in both Istanbul and Ankara.
During the concert tour, the choir will perform two programs: the first one at the Opera Hall of the Atatürk Cultural Center in Istanbul, where Polifonija will join the Istanbul National Orchestra in a performance of G. Fauré’s Requiem. The second program will take place in Ankara during the TENSO conference, featuring works by M. K. Čiurlionis that reflect Lithuania’s musical heritage, performed at the CSO Ada Ankara (the Presidential Symphony Orchestra Hall) together with the Turkish State Choir.
For Polifonija, this is not only an opportunity to perform abroad but also a cultural dialogue: joint projects with Turkish performers and participation in the TENSO conference will expand professional connections and foster exchange among European chamber ensembles.
A special honor awaits as well — the choir has been invited to take part in a TENSO conference lecture, where conductor Linas Balandis will deliver his presentation.
Stay tuned — more information will be announced soon!
